Kasturi

Kasturi programme is our effort to kindle an equal society that ensures dignity for all. It focuses on engaging with women in rural settings. Our aim is to challenge and eliminate gendered stereotypes and evils which include preference for male birth, unequal access to resources, and domestic violence. Through this project we hold dialogues social identities, sexual and reproductive health. We consciously partner with organisations across the Indian landscape to deepen the roots of a rural feminist movement. Kabir Das, an Indian mystic poet and saint, wrote in one of his couplets about how a deer keeps looking for the source of musk throughout the forest while it remains in it’s umbilicus. Similarly TARA Foundation believes that the stiff clenches of patriarchy can be shaken by one’s inner musk and strength – we just need to look for it within.
